      Rt. Rev. Matthew Martin has studied countless religious traditions and philosophies since the early 70s. Through the Gnostic Order of Christ he was ordained a priest in 1988. In 1997 he founded the Holy Light Ministry, as this current school is a renewed and upgraded version.

     He has studied esoteric Christianity, Gnosticism, Hermeticism, Kabbalah, the Ancient Initiatory Tradition, the Esoteric Sacramental Tradition, transformative alchemy, early church history, Buddhism, Oriental philosophies, Sufism, Rosicrucianism, the mainstream religions, various obscure traditions, and he has researched ancient spiritual manuscripts, including the Nag Hammadi Library.

     He believes the most impactful kind of writing is one based on the formula of extensive research, profound spiritual experiences, and deep insights through meditation.
